GoTo Mountings and Accessories

Alpine Astronomical is excited to carry the superb 10 Micron GoTo telescope mountings and accessories.   These precision Italian made mountings are like no other.  10 Micron produces what we think are the finest and most capable telescope mountings in the world, bringing a unique level of quality, capacity, and performance to the discriminating amateur and professional astronomer.

GM2000 QCI Ultraportable Mount

10 Micron GM2000 QCI Ultraportable

Gladius 315CF on a 10Micron GM2000

The GM2000 QCI Ultraportable Mount is 10 Micron's solution for the discriminating amateur looking for the ultimate GoTo mounting for telescopes up to 8" f/8 refractors and 14.5" Cassegrains.  The capacity, build quality and performance of the GM2000 are unique.  It is as at home in a remote fully automated observatory as it is on the road in portable use.

With a conservative usable instrument capacity of over 100 lbs, the GM2000 delivers rigidity, accuracy, and performance that belie its size, matching or exceeding mounts that are physically larger.  The state of the art worm gear drive system delivers near-zero backlash, high rigidity, and long term reliability, along with the low periodic error and and pointing precision demanded by the most discriminating imagers.

The GM2000 is extremely portable.  With a total weight of only 61 lbs, the mounting splits without tools into two easily carried pieces.  When combined with the Centaurus Carbon Fiber Tripod and Transport Cases, the GM2000 becomes the ideal ultra-portable imaging system for medium-large instruments.

The sophisticated QCI control system and belt driven brushless F.I.S. AC servomotors deliver whisper-quiet fast slews with high pointing precision and tracking.   The slew speed of up to 8 degrees/second is almost double the speed of most other GoTo mounts. Multiple hardware interfaces (including integrated LAN) and multiple standard driver protocols are compatible with all of the leading software packages, enabling fully automated operation.

The QCI control system also includes stand-alone operation through use of its ergonomic handpad, freeing the user from the requirement of having to always use an auxiliary PC to control the instrument.  Through the handpad, the stand-alone user can access all of the many integrated functions including; full Object Database, High-Precision Polar Alignment, Orthogonality Correction, Periodic Error Correction, as well as a Multi-Star Alignment which models and compensates for telescope pointing errors.  A GPS module is optionally available.

Each mount is thoroughly tested as a system to ensure that its performance, accuracy, and quality meet the 10 Micron standards.  The engineering, design, and build quality of the GM2000 are unlike any other mounting in the world.  The precision of the machining, quality of the components, and the level of fit and finish are breathtaking.   We have to say - the 10 Micron mountings are truly the Ferrari or Lamborghini of telescope mountings.

GM4000 QCI Professional Observatory Mount

GM4000, with PlaneWave CDK20

10 Micron GM4000 QCI

The 10 Micron GM4000 QCI was created to provide a professional observatory mounting with a capacity and precision previously unavailable in a production mount. It's build quality and performance put the GM4000 in a different league at a price point that is still accessible for the advanced amateur astronomer and won't drain the budget of the professional.   With a usable capacity of over 300 lbs, the GM4000 is the perfect platform for large Cassegrains from 16"-  24" and Refractors up to 12".

The GM4000 is a mature system.  In professional installations through out Europe, South America, and even the South Pole!, the GM4000 has proven itself as a world-class research instrument capable of satisfying the demands of the most critical applications.  The GM4000 is not an amateur-based system that has simply been scaled up to handle larger loads.  Its mechanics and control system have been designed for the rigors of constant usage with large loads and in automated remote applications.   Home Sensing, remote Power control, and integrated LAN facilitate faultless fully remote unattended operation.

When it comes to adequately mounting fully-loaded large instruments in this size range, there are no affordable options that can deliver the kind of no-compromise capacity/stability, tracking accuracy, features, and performance that Research Professionals and Advanced Amateurs demand in a permanent mounting.  Current solutions force the user into undersized or inadequate amateur mountings, scaled-up versions of amateur mountings, or entail custom fabricated professional mountings that cost $50,000 or more and require long lead-times and uncertain outcomes.

The GM4000 mechanics have been professionally engineered and fabricated to first and foremost provide extreme rigidity and accuracy.  The state of the art worm gear drive system delivers near-zero backlash and long term reliability, along with the high tracking and pointing precision needed for the most demanding applications.  Through-the-Mount cable routing permits clean and effective cable management for instrument payloads.

The sophisticated QCI control system and belt driven brushless F.I.S. AC servomotors deliver whisper-quiet fast slews and ultra-high precision.    Multiple hardware interfaces (including integrated LAN) and multiple standard driver protocols are fully compatible with all of the leading software packages.  The GM4000 hardware and firmware have been designed as a system to enable fully automated remote operation.

The QCI control system also includes stand-alone operation through use of its ergonomic hand terminal, freeing the user from the requirement of having to always use an auxiliary PC to control the instrument.  Through the hand terminal, the stand-alone user can access all of the many integrated functions including; full Object Database, Precision Polar Alignment, Orthogonality Correction, Periodic Error Correction, as well as a Multi-Star Alignment which models and compensates for telescope pointing errors.

Despite the brawn of the GM4000, it's build quality is unlike any other mounting in the world.  The precision of the machining, quality of components, and level of fit and finish are breathtaking.  Each mounting is thoroughly tested to ensure that its performance, drive accuracy, and quality meet the 10 Micron standards.  The GM4000 is truly in a class of its own.
